San Antonio’s Northeast neighborhood spans a broad area. That means lots of outdoor space. And lots of family fun. Historically, Comanche Lookout Park, the fourth highest point in Bexar County, was once used by Native Americans as a vantage point for warfare and hunting. Today, the space is a 96-acre park with picnic tables and 4.5 miles of walking trails for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. Also, Randolph Air Force Base – home to the 12th Flying Training Wing – lives on the Northeast Side. A neighborhood favorite, McAllister Park, boasts 1,000 acres, 15 miles of trails, 200 picnic tables, sports fields and a dog park. At Morgan’s Wonderland, a 25-acre fully accessible family fun park, everyone is invited to have fun fishing in the 8-acre lake and exploring all of the rides, playscapes and activities. Come explore what’s new. The northeast neighborhood is home to the fourth-highest point in Bexar County at an elevation of 1,340 feet, Comanche Lookout Park. In the past, Native Americans used this hill as a vantage point for warfare and hunting. Also, the hill was also a prominent landmark for travelers in the 18th and 19th centuries, as part of the Camino Real extended into this area.
